In this Tutorial you will learn about:

  1. What are rooms? An overview.
  2. How to edit & customize rooms
  3. How to duplicate rooms

1. What are rooms? An overview.

In Stagecast, you have workspaces, rooms and activities. Each workspace can have multiple rooms and each room can have multiple activities.

The most important elements of each Room are the "manage activities" section, the "Presenter View" and the "Participant Mode". You can toggle between the Presenter View and the Participant Mode on the right side of the room.

In the "manage Activities section"  you create, edit, start and stop your activities. The "Presenter View" shows you the live results of the activity that you started and the "Participant Mode" is what your audience sees when they join your room.

Rooms are a center piece of Stagecast for the following reasons:

a) Rooms are where we invite our audience to participate

When you invite your audience to participate in one or more activities, you share the Stagecast room link. You can start different activities over time in your room for your audience to participate.

b) Each room has a unique permanent invite link

You can invite your audience into your room in different ways. Via a room link, room event code, room QR code or you can even embed the Stagecast room in your own app or website. Each of these links is permanent - meaning, the links, QR code etc. never changes. But the content inside your room does change: If you start a new activity in your room, your audience will automatically participate in that new one - all with the same room link.

c) You always create activities in a Stagecast room

As said, we can create different activities in the same room. That way, you can start and stop different activities over the course of an event, live steam, webinar or other channel without the audience having to join multiple times. If we would want to have more than one activity available for the audience at the same time, you can simply create a second room.

To create a new room, simply hit the "plus" sign on the top of the room section in the workspace. You can create as many rooms in your workspace as you like. To create a new room, all you need is to give it a name.

2. How to edit & customize the room branding

To edit a room, hit the three dots next to the room name and click on "settings". Here you can change the name and customize the branding of your room.

How to change the branding of a room

On the settings page, you can customize the branding of the Participant Mode of your room. Why is that important? We have already established that you can start and stop activities in your room. So, you might ask - what happens if you stop all activities and no activity is active? What does the audience see then? The answer: The "empty room participant view", which you can customize in the room settings.

You can define a background, header image and welcome message.

3. How to duplicate rooms

Duplicating rooms is a great way to save time if you want multiple activities to be active at the same time and have already created one room with branded activities.

To duplicate a room, just hit the three dots next to the room and click on "duplicate". Your room, including all its setting and activities inside of the room will be duplicated - but with a new room code, so that you can go ahead and share a second link with your audience.

Easy as that! Now you know how duplicate, edit and delete rooms on Stagecast. 🚀🚀🚀
